About Scientific Council


The Scientific Council is being formed under auspices of BBrains Development society for providing a common platform to the scientists, engineers and technologists of all categories belonging to different disciplines for sharing their expertise and experience.
BSC brings together scientists from India and abroad for mutual interaction thus helping them in achieving their common goal of scientific advancement for the good of the society.

Aims and Objectives:

  1. To advance and promote the cause of Science in Bihar
  2. To hold an Annual Conference  at a suitable place in Bihar
  3. To publish proceedings, journals for popularizing Science and scientific achievements
  4. Providing guidance to BB Society to start and execute the scientific projects and help/support at any stage of the execution of the project.
  5.  Providing Guidance, support and consultancy to Bihar Govt.


Proceedings of the local and global meeting:


To realize the objectives, BBrains Society called meeting of Professors and local scientists at Patna under chairmanship of Dr. J. Thakur, former Vice chancellor and Head of the department of Physics, Patna University on September 6, 2007 to decide the strategies for the formation of such scientific council in Bihar. In the meeting, following decision was taken.

 

  1. A seminar or conference should be organized by BiharBrains in which eminent scientists from India and abroad should be invited.
  2. In the conference, scientific council can be formed officially and announced.
  3. Dr. J. Thakur can be chairman of this council till it gets established.
  4. Dr. S. E. Hussnain, VC Hyderabad University and Member, Scientific advisory Council, (SAC-PM) should be invited to preside over  the meetingno

The other members who attended this meeting were

  4.  Dr U. N. L.  Mathur – Head ( Physics), Science College, Patna

  7. Shri Vijay Sharan – P. R. O. BBSC

Proceedings of the recommendations of Global conference meeting:

On the basis of recommendation from local scientist, a global conference meeting was called on September 12, 2007 and discussed on all aspects of the formation of scientific council.

The following main points were discussed and agreed upon:

1) The core Scientific Committee will comprise of 15 members from India in general and Bihar in particular. Each stream of science will have maximum three members 10 more members (preferably 2 from each stream) from foreign countries will be a part of this committee.
The committee has categorized  all streams of S&T into 5 streams as per CSIR, Govt of India, viz; Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Computers, Life Sciences and Earth Sciences.

However, other people are welcomed to be active member of the scientific committee to help the core committee with valuable suggestions/ criticisms for the development of Bihar.

2) The core committee will be presided by Dr. J. Thakur (Physics Dept, Patna University).

3) The selection of the other committee members will be done in the next global chat meet after discussing with the president of the committee. This would be solely based on merit, experience, commitment and dedication of the fellows.

4) The minimum educational qualification decided for the core committee members is a PhD. However, non-PhDs will also be considered based on their academic profile, interest in the pursuits of science and commitment to work for creating a scientific research environment in Bihar.

5) The names of the selected final core members will be finally approved in the during the Science Conference at Patna.

This meeting was presided by Mr. Bibhuti Bikramaditya and all other members who attended this conference were Dr. Manis Jha, Invited Scientist, KIGAM,Korea, Dr. Prabhat Kr. Purvey, Pune univ, Pune, Sri Ranjeet Kumar, New Delhi and Dr. Dinesh Kumar Singh, USA
